Brazilian Nightlife

Brazilian Nightlife, in most cities, is as good as it gets and Brazilians love it. This is a people who thoroughly relish life. No matter the social and economic situation, Brazilians will make their best to enjoy.

Paulistanos (people from the capital of Sao Paulo), commonly mistaken as people who only think about work, have a great nightlife, among the best in the world.

The Big Ones: Sao Paulo and Rio

Sao Paulo is home to the finest restaurant selection in the country. There are innumerabble clubs to choose from. Rock, country, hip-hop, techno, oldies, samba, gafieira(1), axe or forro, pick one and dance the night away. The “botecos”, the way Brazilians nickname their bars, have a lively atmosphere, many of them feature live music.

Cariocas (from the capital of Rio de Janeiro) are well known for the festive style. According to Brazilians, they actually host the greatest festival in the world: Carnival.

Rio offers a variety of choices in clubs and bars. Besides, the samba clubs (called Escolas de Samba in Brazil) rehearse all year around. It’s a great option to go and see one of the rehearsals, live the real thing and learn the samba from the experts.

You can have a great time in most Brazilian cities. But a greater variety will definitely be found in the bigger cities.  For the night lovers best choices will be Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Salvador, Brasília, Curitiba and Florianópolis.

If you can, don't miss the opportunity to include one of these cities in your Brazil travel itinerary.
